REPUBLIC DAY OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

 

Today, India is stepping into its 73rd year of being a Republic. Year after year, the celebrations happen at large scale where we commemorate andgive undue recognition to all our brave warriors. India fought so hard to become independent but what most people don’t know is that many other countries also celebrate their Republic Days in a great manner. In this article, we will see which other countries celebrate their status of being republic in a great way.

 

  1. TURKEY

Turkey is a country that fought for its status very hard to earn the title of being a Republic. In the year 1923, Turkey achieved the status of Republic. 29 October marks the Republic Day of the country. On this day, the citizens of the country celebrate this day with commemoration and dignity. The celebration goes on for a total period of 35 hours. Turkey came to be known as a republic when its president Mustafa Kemal Ataturk proclaimed so. On this day, people carryon parades, events and other exemplary duties.

 

  1. EGYPT

18 June 1953, marks the day of historic importance in Egypt as it earned the status of the term Republic. This title came into importance after the historic revolution of 1952. The military carries on the epic parade and other events follow. It is a public holiday in the country. Egypt became a republic after the Kingdom came to an end. It is also called as the National Day of Egypt.

 

  1. ITALY

Italy became a republic on the day 2 June 1946. This day marks the importance of Italy being a Republic after the end of the second world war. The primary celebration of the occasion happens at Rome where citizens do parades and fireworks follow. The event is considered as of great importance as it turns the history of Italy in the timeline. Umberto II of Savoy was the last King of Italy.

 

  1. KENYA

Kenya celebrates its Republic Day on 12 December. The country which became a republic in the year 1964, had been though various outcomes to achieve this status. It is known as Jahmuri Day which is the Swahili meaning of the word republic. The day came into existence after gaining self-rule from the United Kingdom. The famous parade and march past take place on this day. It is a public holiday.

 

  1. PAKISTAN

23 March is the day Pakistanis celebrate their Republic Day. It came into existence in 1956. It is known as Pakistan Day by the local people. After the India-Pakistan separation, this came to be the first Islamic republic in the world. The military hosts the parade and dignitaries hoist the flag. The PAF Jawans also perform aerial acrobatics to commemorate this occasion.

 

  1. NEPAL

Nepal adopted its constitution in the year 2008, hence May 28 marks the Republic Day for the country. After its 240-year-old monarch system, this status of republic was achieved after demands and competitiveness. Kathmandu announces many small-scale occasions to celebrate this event very minimally. During this time, the diversity and legacy of the country is celebrated with happiness and leisure.

 

  1. MALDIVES

Maldives is a popular tourist destination that is visited by people all over the world. It came into consideration in 1968 after being announced as a republic on 11 November of the same year. It presumes the status of the country being under democracy system and ending the rule of the monarchs.

 

Each of these countries celebrate their status with splendor and pride year after year. New additions and changes to the celebration pattern have seen an uprise but what remains constant is the parade and commemoration of the Bravehearts of the country.
