FOR FAILING TO SAFEGUARD EXAM CONFIDENTIALITY, THE GOVERNMENT WOULD TAKE ACTION AGAINST OFFICERS
The Government is expected to take measures against the officers who didn’t carry out their responsibilities to keep the exam’s confidentiality and guarantee that it was effectively finished, according to official sources who spoke to The Excelsior. After filing the FIR, action will assist the CBI in launching a free, impartial, and unbiased investigation into the scheme.
The list of those engaged in the Sub Inspectors written test was recently cancelled by Lieutenant Governor, and the investigation has now been turned over to the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI). However, the Crime Branch, which had also requested permission to register a FIR in the case, was virtually successful in proving that the paper was stolen in Jalandhar and sold for as little as Rs 10,000 before being sold again for Rs 15 lakh.
According to sources, the Crime Branch has also started preliminary investigations into the Sub Inspectors recruitment scam, for which the Services Selection Board (SSB) used a recruitment agency to administer the exam.
It wasn’t just the Crime Branch that had been investigating. Local cops in Akhnoor had alerted their superiors to the situation, but they opted to hold off filing a FIR until a high-level probe team led by the Home Secretary submitted its findings. The scam had its roots in other States as well, therefore the government ultimately opted to turn over the inquiry to the CBI.
The Lieutenant Governor cancelled the test and requested a CBI investigation after the Committee acknowledged flaws in the report it had sent to him.
The FIR should be filed in the case at any time, according to the CBI.
