Sugar export to start very soon , said the Food Secretary?
Sudhanshu Pandey the Food Secretary of India said that India will start sugar export in the current year 2022-2023 which is expected in the month of September or October.
Although, the Food Secretary said that “the export will start soon “.
In the year 2021-2022 the sugar export market was about 11.2 million tons, earlier it was decided that the sugar export would be 10 million tone but later 1.2 million tons more was added to the earlier quantity .
The market was only 7 million tons till 2020-2021, 5.9 million tons in the year 20219-2020 and 3.8 million tons in 2018-2019.
The President of ISMA, Aditya Jhunjhunwala, taking the domestic demand of sugar into consideration which is estimated as 27.5 million tons and the production is also estimated as 35.5 million tons considering the diversion of sugar.
The production of sugar without the diversion of sugar observed an increase of 40 million tons whereas the earlier estimate was 39.4 million tons.
The ISMA stated that the export would help in maintaining the balance in the domestic sugar market price improving the condition of sugarcane farmer .
