His Silence Doesn’t Mean It Didn’t Happen: Men Hurt Too
His Silence Doesn’t Mean It Didn’t Happen: Men Hurt Too
When we think of abuse, we often picture women as victims—but the truth is, men experience abuse too. And just like women, they deserve to be heard, believed, and supported.
Unfortunately, society has conditioned men to stay silent. They’ve been taught that showing pain is weakness, that crying is unmanly, and that speaking out makes them less of a man. This toxic narrative forces many male survivors to suffer in silence, battling shame, confusion, and fear alone.
But his silence doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Abuse can happen to anyone—regardless of gender. And healing begins when we acknowledge the pain and create safe spaces where men can speak without judgment.
We must challenge the stigma. We must listen with empathy. And most importantly, we must let every survivor know:
Your story matters. Your voice matters. You matter.
It’s time to normalize conversations around male mental health, trauma, and recovery. It’s time to support male survivors with the same energy and care we offer to all who suffer.
