Borderless world -Reality or Myth
Imagine a planet without borders. A world in which people would exist in co-operation without any kind of racial, social and physical barriers. The people inhabiting this world can travel anywhere, use the same currency, and find work anywhere in this world.
Do you think it’s possible to achieve such a feat?
Many experts believe that an era of globalization and liberalization can pave the way to such a world where humanity can exist without borders. But this ultimately begs the question, are we ready to live in such a world? Questions of social and economic divides as well as the role of nations in such a world come into play.
So, let us examine the possibilities of this kind of reality
1) Globalization makes this reality a possibility. We have countries that have an abundance of natural resources but not the technology or the equipment to extract it. So, if you remove any kind of political agenda from this scenario, countries can help each other live up to their true potential by utilizing resources efficiently, climbing higher in the global ladder.
2) Global Democracy
If the political system of the entire planet becomes flat and transparent, it will eliminate the need for borders and boundaries and promote social cohesion regardless of any racial or cultural differences. With institutions like WHO and UN promoting the idea of global citizenship, getting rid of diseases and other third -world problems would be easily solved
3)Eternal peace
Compared to the past, countries have come to realize the futility of waging wars and the benefits of propagating peace. A global union of citizens was envisaged by philosopher Immanuel Kant in the 1790s as the way to promote peace. Living without any kind of barrier, physical or otherwise will take humans to a higher level of prosperity and will remove inequality.
So why do you think we live in world with borders and an increasing number of people who want more border
1) Entry restrictions are required
One good reason we have borders in place is because if they are removed, we would observe a massive influx of civilians moving from their poor, improperly governed countries to developed and politically stable countries. This would create a problem for the limited infrastructure of the developed country which was built specifically to cater the need of their own citizens.
2)Overpopulated countries
There is a reason why economically rich and developed countries have strict immigration policies. If not for these policies, these countries would be overpopulated by migrants. Overpopulation will eventually lead to shortage of food and basic amenities required for surviving.
3)Government support
Another issue is that the government writes policies for the local population. Pension programmes and government aid prioritizes local citizens over foreigners, so living in such a nation would prove to be very costly for outsiders.
Concluding thoughts
A borderless world would require social, economic and political changes. A unified economy with similar rates of interest and profit needs to be established before we truly start thinking of a borderless world in a practical sense.
However, it’s not implausible to live in borderless world because we already do.
Although it is not physical, the virtual world of the Internet. There are no boundaries and people from any corner of the world can be aware of ongoings across the planet, giving us a centralized but common territory for everyone on the planet.
So, in my opinion, for a borderless world to become a physical reality instead of a virtual one, is not practical unless the harder questions of social, economic and political situations are answered.
