UDDHAV THACKERAY MEETS WITH SHIV SENA MPs
In a day or two, a decision will be made regarding the July 18 presidential election, according to party sources, and Thackeray appeared “positive” regarding the request to support Murmu. According to the source, the meeting at Matoshree was attended by two of the party’s three Rajya Sabha MPs and 13 of the party’s 18 Lok Sabha MPs from Maharashtra and several Shiv Sena MPs who attended a meeting organised by Uddhav Thackeray on Monday at his Mumbai mansion “asked” him to endorse NDA nominee Droupadi Murmu for President and open the door to a potential reunion with the BJP and the breakaway Eknath Shinde group.
According to reports, at least eight of them backed Murmu’s candidacy and a potential “patch-up” with the BJP and the Shinde group “considering the impending elections (for local bodies) and the party’s future.”
The insurrection heightened the already existing hostility between the Sena and the BJP. However, the functionary stated that if the party shows support for Murmu, the door for reconciliation will be opened and there will be a chance to start the process of making things right and reestablishing a connection.
In order to meet the Union Home minister on 8 July, Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis travelled to Delhi. The Shinde camp has asserted that at least 12 Sena MPs are in contact with the Chief Minister, and many of them visited Amit Shah there.
A member of the Rajya Sabha, stated: Putting politics aside, Shiv Sena has previously offered support to Pratibha Patil and Pranab Mukherjee and many others. The meeting debated whether to endorse the tribal woman who is the current NDA candidate. Additionally, Yashwant Sinha, a UPA candidate, was discussed. Our party’s leader (Thackeray) will make a decision regarding who to support soon.
