Udupi Hijab case

3 females from the pre-university Women’s Institute in Udupi were denied entry to the science  assessment because they arrived in hijab. The institution head refused access, citing a preliminary relief issued by the Karnataka HC.

The 3 ladies were among the pupils who petitioned the Court for authorization to wear the hijab in classes.

The pupils had addressed the Assistant Secretary of Pre College last week, demanding that the exam be postponed until the High Court issued its final verdict. The motion was denied, and the tests were held on Monday as scheduled.

“It was the final day of the practical test. We’d finished our lab records and arrived at the campus for the practicals. Our teacher warned us, stating, ‘You have 5 min to go, if you don’t, I will report it to the police,’ Almas, one of the girls, posted.

The girls came back home after being barred from entering the classroom by the administrator.

According to university sources, the head attempted to persuade the girls to take their hijab off and sit in the exams, but the girls refused.

Moreover, the Principal explained that he discussed the HC temporary ruling with the children as well as the importance of adhering to it. The females, on the other hand, decided to return home.
